Everyone and their grandma has a podcast. It seems these days like every evangelical church has their sermons up on iTunes, including the Rooted. I don’t listen to any preachers regularly, mostly because I tend to end up mimicking them more than I’d like to in my own preaching. But I do try to listen as often as I can to one podcast: The White Horse Inn.
Five centuries ago, people gathered in taverns across Europe to discuss the latest ideas and trends. One such meeting place was the White Horse Inn in Cambridge, England. From a small group of men who gathered here to discuss theology over a good brew, The Reformation came to the English speaking world.
Continuing in this tradition, The White Horse Inn is “a multimedia catalyst for reformation,” led by great thinkers and pastors who long to see a second reformation take hold of our churches and return them to the God-honoring, Christ-centered, Spirit-wrought places of worship they should be. Their mission is “to help Christians know what they believe and why they believe it through conversational theology,” whether that conversation comes through a talk show, magazine, event, book, blog, or social media format.
If you want an excellent (and free) resource that helps you understand what you believe, challenges your assumptions, roots you in Scripture, informs you about history, and simply makes you a good thinker, you should consider listening regularly to this podcast.
You can learn more about The White Horse Inn at their site, or find their excellent podcast here. Perhaps my favorite episode is Christianity and the New Liberalism. If you listen or are already familiar with these guys, take a minute and post your thoughts.

Concur that Whitehorse Inn podcasts are a great resource. Part of what makes this resource so helpful, in my opinion, is that all the participants come from within reformed camp (somewhat broadly defined) but cutting across some denominational and lower tier doctrinal boundary lines. That helps “keep the main thing the main thing” as they say. Great stuff!!
